Frustrated by the lack of available classes? The state cut the CSU and SFSU’s budget by over 20%, so there is no money to offer more Art classes or teach more students. The best thing all students can do right now is to contact the following state decision makers and make sure they know how their decision to cut the CSU is impacting your life.

Change/Add Major New Policy Beginning June 1, 2009

We have changed the policy for changing or adding art as your major.

Students must have successfully completed:

  • 12 units of 200 level prerequisite core courses at SFSU or the equivalent at another institution(6 units of 200 level studio courses: ART 222, 231, 240,245 or 260 and 6 units of 200 level art history courses: ART 201, 202, 204 or 205 with a grade of C better.
  • lower division requirements (including segment II) of general education requirements at SFSU or the equivalent at another institution

The form below needs to be filled out with an adviser once requirements have been completed. This form should be attached to a filled out SFSU change/add minor form, which can be found online http://www.sfsu.edu/~admisrec/reg/changemajor.html before submitting to the art department office.

Thursday 9-12, 1-3 (closed 12-1 for lunch)
Friday 9-12

The art office will be closed on the mandatory furlough campus closures. Please consult the SF State furlough calendar for all up to date campus closures, http://www.sfsu.edu/~hrwww/econ_times/furlough_cal.html .

The office may need to adjust hours at any point so please call to confirm hours if you need to drop in for any reason.
