Pratchenko_Font_1Paul Pratchenko was born in 1944 and raised in East Virginia. He has lived and worked in Northern California since 1965, completing art studies begun at the Corcoran School of Art, Washington, D.C. at San Jose State University (BA 1969 and MA 1972 in Painting). Professor Pratchenko has taught painting and drawing since 1978 at San Francisco State University.

His work in painting and drawing has been shown extensively in national galleries, museums and alternative spaces as well as at various international venues. His work has been reproduced in many periodicals, catalogues and essays, as well as having been reviewed in several national and international art publications. Mostly known for his painted narrative and figurative non-sequiturs (often incorporating political and ecological topics), he has also worked actively in a number of drawing formats.
