Visual artist, writer, composer, performance artist. Participated in over 100 major exhibitions, including Joslyn Art Museum, Art Institute of Chicago, Oakland Museum, Butler Institute of American Art, St. Louis Art Museum, Krannert Art Museum.
His work is in the permanent collections of twenty museums, including the Jersey City Museum, Springfield Art Museum, Illinois State Museum, Minnesota Museum of Art. Two of his books published in 2007 are IMAGE AS IDEA: The Arts in Global Cultures and HYBRID CULTURE: Mix-Art.
Over forty prior publications in the areas of art criticism, culture studies, art history, art and science, and art education, including NACA Journal, Leonardo, Art Journal, Studies in the Twentieth Century, Studio International (London), Sculpture International, Structure (Dublin).
Previously taught at five other universities, and previously Director of the Inter-Arts Center, SF State, Chair of Art Department at Indiana State University, and Head of Art Department at East Texas State University.
