In 2014, the Museum Studies Program closed its gallery in the Humanities Building to reorganize and move the collections to new spaces in the Fine Arts Building. Opening is anticipated in Fall 2016 due to further construction delays. As a responsible steward of cultural heritage, a place of scholarship, community and engagement, the Global Museum will create experiences that foster life-long learning, collaboration with and among diverse communities, and reflection about global society and our common humanity.
The Global Museum will use family- and student-oriented exhibits to offer innovative educational programming around its collections to SF State, the extended San Francisco community, and Bay Area school districts.
The Global Museum anticipates exhibiting its outstanding collections from Oceania, Asia, North America and Africa late in 2016, as it prepares new exhibition and collections spaces in the Fine Arts Building that will serve as a collections stewardship and exhibition hub for the greater SF State community.
